If you can't see both the Internet and other computers or printers on your local network, there is either a problem with your computer or network router. If you can't see the Internet from all of the computers on your network, either the Internet is down or your router isn't working. If you can't access the Internet from your computer, first call your Internet Service Provider and make sure the Internet isn't temporarily down in your area. If the Internet is up, then bring your equipment to us for diagnosis. Depending on how your network is behaving, you may need to bring in your computer or your computer and network router for testing. |

Wireless networks have several advantages. The first is that you don't have to run cable all over your home or office, and you don't have to pay for a technician to install jacks in every room. The second advantage is that you can roam with your laptop or move your desktop to many different locations without having to rewire network cable. Offering WiFi Internet access for your customers can be an attractive addition to the services or products your business provides. With extra configuration, a wireless network can be just as secure as a wired one. The disadvantage to a wireless signal is interference. Wireless signals are typically strong enough to cover a house or small business, but extra steps may need to be taken in order to provide a strong, consistent signal for certain locations. It is typical for a wireless user to get dropped from the network on occassion for no reason. We offer Linksys products for wireless, and can install a range of indoor/outdoor amplifiers to ensure that your wireless signal is strong. We also can configure any wireless network to be secure. Contact us so that we may survey your site and provide you with the right WiFi solution. By default most wireless products are configured to be wide open. This means that anyone within your vicinity can connect to your network and have full access to the Internet and your other computers on the network. This can compromise valuable data and run up your Internet access bill if someone is using your connection to download huge files. It is illegal to join someone elses network without permission, even if the network is wide open. Federal penalties for this violation are severe.
